Does God only heal us if we give up sin, go to church regularly, tithe, go to Bible studies, attend life groups, etc? This is attempting to tie God's love to rules and regulations. This is going back to the Law that Galatians 3:3 warned us about. Wommack explains it well, "When we struggle to believe that God's promises to us will come to pass, that's unbelief; but the root of that unbelief is lack of love. Galatians 5:6 says faith works by love. That means that love is the driving force behind our faith. Remove or diminish love, and faith ceases to be what it should be"As the following verses confirm, we are under God's grace:
Wommack continues, "There are many ways that Satan uses to try to block the revelation of God's love for us. One of the most subtle . . . is that he has deceived us into thinking that God's love for us is tied to our performance". The Bible does not teach that. In the New Testament we are not under the law to perform to a certain level but we are under grace. We keep God's commandments that are in our hearts as a result of our love for God. Because we love God, we strive to live a holy life. We are saved and healed by grace, and our eternal rewards are based on our effort for the kingdom. They are totally separate categories. But even if we understand that God's love for us does not diminish if we are in sin, there are consequences to sin that we will discuss later.
